jay s asked: At my last job, my co-worker had a broad knowledge of world history and facts. Discussions on various topics was normal while going through a day of work.
I am ashamed to admit, but about 80% of the things he would discuss (World Wars, the history of particular places and people, general knowledge etc..) I couldn’t even include myself in a discussion, purely because I didn’t know any sort of facts.
In high school (A long time ago; I’m 27 now) I only had one class regarding history, which was “Australian Studies” (I’m from Australia). My co-worker often asked me why I didn’t study world history at all.
I know it’s a broad topic, but where would you start if you were keen learn and read about history? Your own country? Another country? Religion and history?
