Why I Think Its not Essential to Dig Into Your Spouse’s History

FRANCIS K GITHINJI asked:

It is a controversial issue subject to debate. Why hurt yourself by digging into your spouse’s past? But again staying in the dark about your spouse’s history is not very ideal. When something directly related to the past happens in future, your ignorance will not be justifiable. This is where the big question comes; is it of benefit to dig into your spouses past? Is your spouses past important now? What are the implications of this past history to your relationship? Will it withstand the shock or it will be shaken to its very foundations? Remember every person alive today has a history to tell you included. Do not pretend to be holier than thou because you are not better in either way.

What is the necessity of unraveling old wounds. The past history of a person has its ugly side and its beautiful side. Many people focus on the ugly side and magnify it to blow it out of proportion. When sniffing into your spouse’s history, consider that some incidents and occurrences are just a stage in life. As a person grows older his or her ideologies, vision, goals, aspirations and dreams change. Many people tend to rate a person with their past. It is suicidal to use your spouses past as a yardstick of his or her current status. No one is perfect and we have our own shortcomings. Everyone can do a mistake in a life and learn from it. A person can change from a bad person into a better person or vice versa. I am saying this because when a person’s past is dug up, we only pay attention to the dark side. We forget the person has a good side also.

Opening classified files from your spouse’s history is not healthy for the relationship. It might affect the way you feel about your partner. You had idolized your partner as a person of unquestionable integrity. You worshipped the very ground that your spouse strode on. Then your spouse’s history which you were craving for starts unfolding before your eyes. Imagine the disbelief, shock, denial and anger that will engulf you. You start seeing your spouse from a very different perspective, from a different angle. You start realizing that your spouse has many sides and faces. There is a face you know and another side you do not know. The trust and goodwill you had built for all this time is adversely affected. It goes to waste. You feel your spouse is a stranger to you. Why not be prudent enough and accept your spouse as at the current value!

Do you realize that your spouse’s history can destroy your marriage? It reveals what you didn’t know about your spouse. The history of your spouse might rear it’s ugly head and force you to run for the hills. It is a situation which can make you regret why you opened the can of worms in the first place. Some revelations are so clandestine. They will make you feel like you had been blindfolded for all this time. Why not remain in your blindfolds and grow grey waiting for the day you will meet your maker.

How can I teach my kids history without confusing them?

<3NoiZette<3 asked:

I want to teach it to them in order, with historical fiction books and movies as supplements to the cold, hard textbook. We will also be touring historical sites. But I had an education like this, and now I have my history timeline all mixed up. How can I be sure to avoid this mistake with my kids?
Edit: I would also like suggestions for some interesting, (historical) chapter books aimed at kids. (Ages 7-12)
Oops, forgot. Yes, it is World History, although I think I’ll start in Africa with the first humans.

Can You Make a Career Out of Food History?

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008
history
Abdrew Krause asked:

Everyone knows the stereotype of historians … they’re dusty old fellows with patches on their jacket elbows who smell faintly of book mold and are forever squinting at something tiny scribbled in the margin of an old book. Let’s face it; historian is not one of the sexiest career choices in the world. Whatever kind of history you pick, be it military history, government history or that popular catchall “world history,” there’s just not a lot of glamour. Food history, however, is a different kettle of (poached) fish entirely.

The most common title given to a practitioner of food history is that of culinary anthropologist. This is a fascinating field, in which world cuisines are researched and related across a broad spectrum. One of the most famous faces in this field is Deb Duchon, whose face will be familiar to viewers of the hit Food Network series “Good Eats” featuring Alton Brown. Deb is the go-to woman for anything involving food history for the show, and is seen on-camera frequently.

Culinary anthropology will take you around the world, as well. Consider the humble flatbread, a food item found in almost every world culture. In South America, it’s the tortilla. In Europe, it’s the crepe, and in America it most often takes the form of a pancake, although our culture is so homogenized that all the others take equal prominence.

Basically, it’s a simple, unleavened or lightly leavened bread that can be used either as a food on its own or to wrap around other foods to make them portable. In the process of researching the history of this food, a culinary anthropologist from a Texas university traveled all over the world, appearing on cooking shows and local-interest programming from Bangkok to Dublin.

Food history is more than just culinary anthropology, though. Any major history project needs someone who can serve as the voice of authority on what the people or culture involved ate, and you’ll always find jobs there. The possibilities for a food historian are truly limitless.

History of Paintball

Steffen Leinsvang asked:

The History Of Paintball

In this article i’m mainly going to show you some markers that have left their trace in the history of paintball. But first: A small introduction.

The first actual game of paintball took place in 1981, between 12 players using the Nelspot 007. The first game was a capture the flag scenario game. Trough the 80’s the sport of paintball started spreading . First it spread to England, Australia and South Africa. Some years later it reached Europe. In 1992 the NPPL was founded and the year after there was played 4 tournaments around the country. In 1996 the World Championships Of Paintball was produced and aired by ESPN.

The first company that made a marker was Nelson Paint Company, the marker was called the Nelspot 007 and was originally used to mark trees in the forestry business. The Nelspot 007 was a bolt action or pump action pistol powered by 12 gram Co2 cartridges. The gun could also be set up with a ASA to accept HPA or Co2.

The Splatmaster was a very economic choice because it only costed around 80$. It’s internals was pretty similar to the 007 but the body was made out of solid plastic (The 007 was all steel). It held 10 round tubes of 0.68 cal. ammunition.

The Tippmann 68 Special hit the market around 1990 and it was a big hit!

This is what Tippmann wrote about it: “We took our finest gun and put it on steriods. The result is the 68 special. A new hybrid weapon with proven Tippmann quality and reliability. It combines the ruggedness of the SL-68, the most durable gun we’ve ever built, and the speed of the SMG-60, the only full automatic CO2 paintball gun.

The 68 Special is a true semi-automatic, not a double action with a new gravity feed system that eliminates ball breakage and double feeding. A 1/8″ light trigger movment lets you shoot as fast as you can squeeze off rounds. And a new liquid CO2 system that will shoot up to 200 rapid shots without loss of velocity. “

Now, things have changed and there are electric markers that shoot 20 balls per second. In USA alone, the number of paintball players is almost 10 millions. And the sport is still growing!

Filling out a lot of job applications lately and everytime I get to the Previous Employers section I end up having to make up random dates.

In the event that I cant get my work history. Would I be better off just leaving the dates blank or stick with making them up?
